For Belgo, an authentic Belgian craft beer brand expanding into Ho Chi Minh City, the objective went far beyond establishing a standard taproom. The vision demanded a flagship destination capable of carrying the depth of Belgian brewing heritage while driving consistent foot traffic in a competitive culinary market. To bring this vision to life, ARCCAN delivered comprehensive commercial interior design and brewery architectural design services, transforming the brewery into a high-performing hospitality venue and a physical embodiment of the brand identity.
As an integrated ARCCAN commercial architecture and hospitality-design project, the assignment required balancing intricate technical operations with an engaging guest experience. The design needed to support industrial-scale production while creating an inviting social hub tailored to the local dining culture.
A FUNCTIONAL BREWERY, REIMAGINED AS A DESTINATION
The project brief presented substantial operational complexity. The structure had to operate as a fully functioning craft brewery while accommodating up to 220 guests across two levels, ensuring technical brewing workflows and high-volume beverage service never compromised customer comfort.
Rather than addressing spatial architecture and brewing mechanics separately, ARCCAN approached the project as a cohesive hospitality tenant fit out. The two-level spatial planning optimized usable floor space, organized efficient back-of-house circulation, and created direct visual engagement between patrons and the brewing vessels. By showcasing the brewing infrastructure directly from the dining areas, the facility’s functional purpose became the central element of the customer journey.
Letting the Structure Speak: Industrial Honesty Meets Hospitality
The core aesthetic direction centered on celebrating the building’s structural framework rather than concealing it. Concrete columns, structural steel elements, and raw brickwork were left deliberately exposed, allowing construction logic to define the interior atmosphere. This material honesty creates an authentic, grounded environment that superficial decorative finishes cannot replicate.
To ensure the industrial shell remained welcoming, the team balanced raw surfaces with tailored hospitality elements. Custom ambient lighting, warm wood accents, and carefully selected furniture soften the tactile, utilitarian materials. The resulting atmosphere functions as a sophisticated urban retreat suitable for daytime lunches, business gatherings, and vibrant evening crowds alike.
Strategic Spatial Execution and Commercial Outcomes
Delivering a successful hospitality tenant fit out in a dense metropolitan market requires precise technical coordination:
Zoned Acoustic and Lighting Planning: Ambient lighting fixtures and spatial dampening allow lively evening dining without excessive noise spill into intimate seating areas.
Streamlined Service Pathways: Dedicated service corridors and optimized bar stations separate high-volume staff movement from customer circulation routes.
Structural Material Integrity: Exposed structural elements utilize durable sealants to preserve the raw tactile character while meeting strict food and beverage hygiene standards.
Integrated Brand Touchpoints: The layout seamlessly blends heritage brewing motifs with contemporary architectural finishes to reinforce brand recognition.
Completed in 2023, the 5,000-square-foot facility comfortably supports its 220-person capacity and stands as a landmark destination in Ho Chi Minh City’s hospitality landscape. The project demonstrates ARCCAN’s approach to commercial interior design and spatial advisory: anchoring every design decision in the client’s commercial strategy, then using architecture and interior planning to give that positioning a lasting physical form.
